Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 July 2026
1. Who we are
StixCam (“StixCam”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a mobile application that lets you capture real-life subjects and turn them into stickers. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the StixCam app and this website (together, the “Service”). You can reach us at hello@stixcam.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Profile details you optionally enter, such as a name or nickname and the collections you create.
- Communications you send us, such as support emails.
Information collected automatically
- Anonymous identifier. On first launch we create an anonymous account (a random ID) so the app can function. It is not linked to your name unless you choose to sign in.
- Usage & analytics data. Aggregated, event-level information about how the app is used (for example: app opened, a sticker was created, a screen was viewed), together with general device and app information (device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and a device identifier used by our analytics provider).
- Diagnostics. Crash and performance information to help us fix problems.
- Purchase status. Whether you hold an active subscription or one-time purchase (see §3). We do not receive your full payment-card details.
3. Camera, photos & your stickers
StixCam needs access to your camera to capture subjects, and to your photo library only when you choose to save a sticker to it.
- On-device processing. Cutting a subject out of a photo (removing the background) happens locally on your device. We do not upload the photos you capture to our servers to create stickers.
- Local storage. The stickers you make and their details are stored on your device. If you delete the app, that content is removed with it.
- Sharing is your choice. When you share or save a sticker, it leaves the app through the destination you pick (for example a messaging app or your photo library). That destination’s own privacy terms then apply.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive confirmation of your entitlement, not your card number.
4. How we use information
- To provide, maintain and operate the Service and its features.
- To understand usage and improve performance, reliability and design.
- To process and manage subscriptions and free-usage limits.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and misuse, and to keep the Service secure (including device-attestation checks).
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request), our legitimate interests (to improve and secure the Service), your consent (where required, e.g. certain analytics — which you can withdraw), and legal obligations.
6. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf (such as analytics, authentication, app-attestation and hosting).
- App stores (Google Play, Apple) to process purchases.
- Legal & safety — where required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
7. Third-party services
The Service uses Google Firebase (analytics, anonymous authentication, app-attestation and cloud storage) and app-store billing (Google Play and Apple). These providers process data under their own privacy policies, including Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review them.
8. Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law. Analytics data is retained per our provider’s default retention settings. Stickers and app content stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
9. Your choices & rights
- Permissions. You can revoke camera or photo access anytime in your device settings (the app’s capture features won’t work without camera access).
- Analytics. You can limit analytics via your device’s advertising/analytics controls, or by uninstalling the app.
- Deletion. Uninstalling the app deletes locally stored content. To request deletion of any data associated with your anonymous ID, contact us at hello@stixcam.app.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights; we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country, e.g. 16 in parts of the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) are used for such transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
