Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

The short version. Runway Traffic has no accounts and no sign-in. Your progress is saved on your device only — we never receive it, and we run no server that could store it. The game shows ads supplied by Google AdMob and measures how it is played using Google Analytics for Firebase. Between them those services collect a device advertising identifier, an app installation identifier, and basic device information. We never receive your name, email address or anything you type, we do not sell your personal data, and the game asks for no device permissions at all. You can reset or delete the advertising identifier at any time in your device settings, and uninstalling the app stops all collection.

1. Who we are

Runway Traffic: Ground Control (“Runway Traffic”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a mobile game published by devbynight. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Runway Traffic app and these pages (together, the “Service”). For anything in this policy you can reach us at devbynight1@gmail.com.

For the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, devbynight is the controller of the limited personal data described below.

2. What the game collects

Runway Traffic does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or give us your name, email address or phone number. There is no chat, no profile, no leaderboard and no social feature. We do not operate any server that stores your game data, and there is nothing in the app that uploads it.

The app does not request or access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files, call logs, SMS, or location — precise or approximate. It declares no runtime permissions.

What is collected comes from two Google services embedded in the app — Google AdMob for advertising and Google Analytics for Firebase for usage measurement:

DataCollected byWhy
Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA) Google AdMob To select and measure ads, and to limit how often the same ad is shown
Device & app information — model, operating system version, language, country, app version Google AdMob To serve ads the device can actually display
IP address, and an approximate location (typically city or region) derived from it Google AdMob To meet regional legal requirements and serve regionally appropriate ads
Ad interaction — ads requested, shown, completed, rewards earned AdMob, Firebase Analytics To pay for the game's development and to detect invalid ad traffic
Gameplay events — board started, cleared, failed, restarted or abandoned, with the level number, how long it took, how many clearances were issued, and how many hints were used Firebase Analytics To find levels that are unfairly hard or broken, and to balance the difficulty curve
Progress summary — how many levels you have cleared, how many perfectly, and your best endless wave Firebase Analytics To understand how far players get before they stop
App instance ID — a random identifier for one installation Firebase Analytics To count players rather than sessions. It is reset if you uninstall the app

Gameplay events describe what happened on the board — for example that level 74 was failed after two minutes with all three hold-short clearances spent. They do not contain your name, your contacts, or anything you have typed. There is no chat and no text entry anywhere in the game.

3. Data stored on your device

Your progress is written to your device's own private app storage and stays there. It is not uploaded to us and we cannot read it. This includes:

There is no cloud save and no way to transfer progress between devices. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it permanently, and neither you nor we can recover it afterwards.

4. Advertising

Runway Traffic is free, has no in-app purchases, and is paid for entirely by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. The game shows:

We limit ads to content rated suitable for a general audience. Google, and the advertising partners it works with, may use the advertising ID and the other data above to select ads and measure their performance. You can read how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and Google's general privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is played in aggregate: which boards defeat people, how long a level takes, how often hints are needed, and how far a player gets before they stop. This is how a game made by one person gets balanced — the difficulty of the later levels was set by measurement rather than guesswork, and it stays honest only if we can see what actually happens.

It is aggregate measurement, not a profile of you. We cannot single out a player, we have no way to contact anyone, and there is nothing in the data that identifies a person. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. The rating prompt

After you have cleared a number of boards the game may ask whether you would like to rate it. That prompt is presented by your operating system — Apple's App Store or Google Play — and not by us. Whatever you write in it goes to the store, not to devbynight, and we never learn whether you rated the app or what you said. Dismissing it costs you nothing and it is asked only a small number of times, ever.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent message the first time you play, provided through Google's User Messaging Platform, before personalised ads are requested.

You may accept or refuse personalised advertising. Refusing does not restrict the game in any way — every level and every feature remains available; you will simply see non-personalised ads. Where the consent message is required, you can reopen it at any time from the in-game privacy option to change your answer.

On iOS, the system also asks separately for permission to track before any personalised identifier is used. Declining that prompt is likewise free of consequence inside the game.

Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, we rely on:

9. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing.

Data is processed by the service providers named above — Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase — and, in the case of advertising, by the advertising partners Google works with in order to serve and measure ads. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Under certain US state privacy laws, sharing data with advertising partners for targeted advertising can be classified as “sharing” or a “sale”. If you are in such a state you may opt out by disabling personalised advertising in your device settings, as described below.

10. Retention

We do not run a server of our own, so there is no database on our side holding a copy of your data. Google retains advertising and analytics data according to its own policies; Firebase Analytics data is retained for a limited period configured in our Firebase project and is then deleted or aggregated. Data saved on your device is kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data.

11. Your choices & rights

Controls available to everyone

Rights under GDPR, UK GDPR and similar laws

Subject to local law you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Write to devbynight1@gmail.com and we will respond within the time your law requires.

Please note we identify data only by advertising identifier. To act on a request about advertising data we may need you to supply that identifier, because we hold nothing else that could link the data to you. We will not ask you for extra personal information in order to identify you.

12. Children

Runway Traffic is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact devbynight1@gmail.com and we will delete what we can and request its deletion by our providers.

13. Security

Data sent by the app to Google's advertising and analytics services is encrypted in transit. Progress saved on your device is protected by your operating system's own app sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. International transfers

Our providers are global and may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, Google relies on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

15. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how your data is used will be announced in the app or on this page before taking effect.
